Danzig-Vilnius und zurück - Gdansk-Vilnius and return

Frisch zurück in Danzig von meinem Ausflug nach Warschau und Schlesien schloß sich direkt ein weiteres Highlight an, an dem ich dankenswerterweise teilnehmen durfte: Dem Deutsch-Polnisch-Litauischen Forum, dass in diesem Jahr mit ca. 30 Teilnehmern in Danzig und Vilnius stattfand.
Zwar konnte ich aufgrund meiner Anreise aus Schlesien nicht am gesamten Programm teilnehmen, hatte aber dennoch die Gelegenheit, die TeilnehmerInnen während des zweiten Teils des Forums kennenzulernen. Und da eben dieser Teil aus einer Fahrt nach Vilnius (mit einigen Zwischenstopps auf der Hinfahrt an herausragenden Sehenswürdigkeiten im Ermland und in Masuren) bestand, hatte ich zudem die Möglichkeit, Einblicke auch in diese Region werfen zu können - Einblicke und Ansichten, die ich mit Hilfe der Bilder gerne teile.

Just returned to Gdansk from my trip to Warsaw and Silesia I was subsequently able to participate in another highlight: The German-Polish-Lithuanian Forum with about 30 participants, which took place in Gdansk and Vilnius.
Even though I hadn't been able to participate in the first stages of the programme I was lucky to get the opportunity to get to know the participants during the second part of the Forum. And as this part consisted of a (bus-)trip to Vilnius (the Capital of Lithuania), with some stop-overs at the most important sights in Warmia and Masuria, I had the unique chance to also get a good view of this unique region - views and sights which I'm happy to share through my pictures.

Warschau, Lubowitz, Kattowitz: Impressionen - Warsaw, Lubowice, Katowice: Impressions

Meinem Aktivitäts- und Reisetrieb folgend war ich im April einmal mehr in Polen unterwegs und hatte dabei die Gelegenheit, Warschau anzuschauen,

ein Training zum Thema "Freiwilligenmanagement" mit den ifa-KulturmanagerInnen und -Redakteurinnen aus Polen und Tschechien (ifa = Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen e.V., Stuttgart) in Lubowitz (dem Geburtsort des deutschen Dichters Joseph von Eichendorffs) zu leiten
lead a training with the topic of "Volunteer Management" for the ifa-Culturemanagers and -Editors in Poland and the Czech Republic (ifa = "Institute for Foreign Relations", Stuttgart) in Lubowice (birthplace of the german poet Joseph von Eichendorff)

und auf dem Rückweh (unvorhergesehen) einen kleinen Stadtbummel durch Kattowitz zu machen.

Mehr Spaß aus Canada - More fun from Canada

Mit dem Ende der regulären (NHL-)Eishockeysaison (Die Playoffs sind zwar im vollen Gange - in diesem jahr aber leiderleider ohne meine Lieblingsmannschaft, die Toronto Maple Leafs...) läuft nun seit Anfang April wieder die Baseballsaison - in der ich interessehalber die Aufs und Abs der Toronto Blue Jays verfolge.
Als lustige "Schnittmenge" in dieser Phase habe ich das folgende YouTube-Video von "Clarke, the Canadian Hockey Goalie" gefunden - viel Spaß beim Anschauen ;-)

With the end of the regular NHL-Hockeyseason (Ok, the Playoffs are fully underway, but this year unfortunately without my favourite Team, the Toronto Maple Leafs...) it's now again another season up for Baseball (where I'm following the Up's and Down's of the Toronto Blue Jays). As a funny "mix" of these two sports I've found the following YouTube-Video from "Clarke, the Canadian Hockey Goalie" - and hope you enjoy it as much as I did ;-)

Ostermorgen in Sopot - Eastermorning in Sopot

Da ich in diesem Jahr Ostern in Polen verbrachte, stellte sich für mich die Frage, wie ich dieses Fest hierzuland in angemessener Form würde begehen können. In Erinnerung an einen (sehr schönen) Ostermorgen-Sonnenaufgangs-gottesdienst den ich vor einigen Jahren in Kanada hatte miterleben dürfen, entschied ich mich dafür, dieses "in klein" für mich zu wiederholen - indem ich pünktlich zum Sonnenaufgang (gegen 6:00 Uhr) auf die Mole in Sopot ging, und dort an der Spitze den Sonnenaufgang über der Ostsee verfolgte - gut eingepackt bei frostigen Temperaturen und ausgestattet mit einer Thermoskanne voll Tee und Oster-Texten. Ich hoffe, dass die wunderbare Stimmung aus den dabei entstandenen Bildern etwas durchschimmert.
Der Herr ist auferstanden!



As I spent this years Easter-weekend in Poland, I was previously thinking about how I could "celebrate" this special occasion in an adequate way. Remembering a (very nice) Eastermorning-Sunrise-Service at which I was able to participate in Canada some years ago I decided to repeat something similar "in small" for myself. So I got timely up for the sunrise (at around 6:00) and walked to the tip of the pier in Sopot, from where I could see a beautiful sunrise over the Baltic sea - well equipped with warm clothes to protect me from freezing temperatures, a bottle of hot tea and some easter-related texts. I hope that the magic atmosphere can be felt throughout the pictures which I took.
The Lord is risen!
